Riyadh Events: The Capital of Global Entertainment

Riyadh has engineered one of the most aggressive events calendars of any city in the world. Since Saudi Arabia began its entertainment reforms under Vision 2030, the capital has hosted world championship boxing, Formula 1 racing, tennis exhibitions featuring the sport’s top six players, the largest electronic music festival in the Middle East, professional wrestling’s Royal Rumble (held outside North America for the first time), and a light art festival that drew seven million visitors. The pipeline only intensifies with Expo 2030 and the 2034 FIFA World Cup on the horizon.

The anchor event is Riyadh Season — a city-wide entertainment festival organized by the General Entertainment Authority under chairman Turki Alalshikh. The sixth edition launched October 10, 2025 and runs through mid-March 2026, featuring eleven entertainment zones, fifteen world championships, and thirty-four exhibitions and festivals. The previous edition attracted 20 million visitors from 135 countries, and the 2025 edition drew one million visitors in its first thirteen days alone.

Major sporting events have positioned Riyadh as a global venue. The Six Kings Slam brought Novak Djokovic, Carlos Alcaraz, Jannik Sinner, Alexander Zverev, Taylor Fritz, and Jack Draper to compete on October 15, 16, and 18, 2025. The Formula 1 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix has been held at the Jeddah Corniche Circuit — the fastest street circuit in F1 with 27 corners and average speeds of 252 km/h — with a future move planned to a permanent Qiddiya circuit near Riyadh designed by Alex Wurz. The WWE Royal Rumble on January 31, 2026 marked the first time the event was held outside North America.

Music draws massive crowds. MDLBEAST Soundstorm is the Middle East’s premier electronic and pop music festival, with the 2025 edition running December 11-13 and confirmed acts including Cardi B, Post Malone, Calvin Harris, Halsey, and Pitbull.

Cultural festivals add depth beyond entertainment. Noor Riyadh, the annual light art festival, ran its fifth edition from November 20 to December 6, 2025, featuring sixty artworks by artists from twenty-four countries across six city locations. It has drawn 9.6 million total visitors since 2021, secured four Guinness World Records, and won twelve global cultural awards.

Looking ahead, Expo 2030 will bring over 200 pavilions, five themed zones, and a target of 40 million visits to a purpose-built site in North Riyadh. The Esports World Cup continues annually. Qiddiya’s entertainment city will add a permanent layer of attractions from 2027 onward.
